LATEST WORK
Art allows a space of freedom to express ideas and provoke reactions. My work has a little bit of everything. For a long time, I was concerned about defining myself as an artist of a medium or style. It was very recently that I realized my training in theatre and set design opened many doors for experimentation with different processes in which I connected research, identity, and creativity. All my professional, academic, and personal experiences are connected by visual language.
ABSTRACT-ED
In this series, I practiced de-figurative versions of mundane objects and scenes. I intended to abstract form to its pure essence. As a child who draws stories and makes sense of their visual representations, I aimed to experiment with the freedom to play with flat lines and shapes to create alternative meaning for objects that emerged intuitively during the process. The posterior analysis of these pieces led to associations of symbolisms with feelings and emotions, which translated to simplified versions of reinvented volume-less objects. All is part of tentatively responding to the question: Can real life be simplified? (2024)
CORNERS
In this series I tried to create abstract spaces that challenge the traditional vanish point method by adding flat shapes in contrast to the perspective setting. This work emerged from drawing practices between September and October (2023).
